cats ruining stair carpet

Hello i am looking for some advise please my two babies aka bonnie and clyde have ruined my stair and landing carpet keep clawing it etc parts of it have holes in it :mad: We are soon going to replace it has anyone any advise how to stop this happening again ? My hubbys suggestion of cutting their paws off did'nt go down…

Both mine use the scratching post (I have 4!) and thankfully never touch the furniture but wee cat is a nightmare with the lounge carpet (only that one).

TBH some cats claw and others don't - I don't really think there's a huge amount you can do to stop it so it's one of the things we have to put up with (if our cats do it) in return for having the pleasure they bring to our lives!
