Moving partition wall a few feet need planning?

Hi all, we've got a non-load bearing partition wall between two rooms in the second floor of our house.

We're planning to move it a few feet to expand the small room and turn into a dressing room.

Can anyone confirm if I need to get planning permission or building check for this? (or can I just crack on!)

I think internal alterations don't require planning but if you ring your local council planning department they'll normally have someone available to confirm this.

building regs for internal works not planning, unless your are grade 2 listed. are you sure it is not loadbearing?have you a truss roof?
  • Cheers all - yes I'm pretty sure - no wall above it, or below it (have a 3 storey house given converted loft). Ripped off one side of plaster and just standard wood partition.

Just move the wretched thing then. Very, very unlikley to need BRs for a partition. Just give LABC a call to check. They aren't ogres.

    Cheers

How the hell are they going to know if you don't tell them. Just do it. There are far too many people poking their noses into other people's business nowadays.

Just so long as I don't want much.
