How do I Paint or Restore a Modern White table?

Hi all,
This is my first DIY question on MSE.
I'm a DIY novice and need advice about restoring a white table.
I bought the John Lewis Jasper table off ebay but it has stains on it. I'll like to remove the stains or paint it over and will appreciate advice from mse forumites who know about these things. Does it need to be sand papered? I'll like to just paint over it. What sort of paint do I use please?
The table is at the link below.

Thank you for your time.

Assume that you have tried getting rid of the stains with household cleaning products?
If a repaint is necessary then sand the top with fine (120 or 140 grit) sand paper to provide a key for the new paint. It can be brush painted but I would use canned spray paint which gives a much better finish. I spotted that the pound shop sell cans of spray paint - not tried it and there didn't seem to be much paint in the cans. Aldi/Lidl stock fairly inexpensive spray paints.
    Forgotten but not gone.
  • I've cleaned but haven't used bleach as it might erode the paint.
I thought brush will be better but perhaps I should purchase spray paint?
    More advise please. Thanks.

  • Thank you everyone. The table is not gloss but it is smooth. On the John Lewis site it says it's lacquer. Do I still need to sand paper before spraying? And do I need to sand paper the whole coating off?

No need to remove all of the existing finish . Sand, then wipe with a cloth dampened with white spirit before spraying several light coats of paint. Spray paint has a very strong smell so pay attention to ventilation.
    Forgotten but not gone.
