AA Home (and motor) Insurance with PPI!!!!

Hi,

Just a heads up to anyone who has bought Home Insurance from the AA and paid by monthly instalments. I've just found my paperwork from Feb 2007 and they have automatically added PPI to the repayments. It is set up as a front loaded policy added to a 12 month loan. Mine was only £7.04 for the year but I'm going to reclaim this as a matter of principle.

I hope this helps out somebody who might have had this added to their monthly payment plan without knowing.

Are you sure it is PPI and not IPT? Or perhaps the interest on the premium

According to AA the only extras they do are car hire, excess protection, motor accident plan and motor legal protection.

I think the words "PPI Premium" are clear enough. This is listed in the breakdown of costs.

That link is under their loan section. Not their car insurance section.

It's not that I doubt you but I have never seen PPI on car insurance before. So, it is a bit of a surprise.

  • Hi i can confirm that i have over the years payed PPI to AA Car insurance. when you pay by monthly installments you are taking out a loan through the AA and as far as i can tell from my paperwork they never asked me at all. This as you say is quite clearly written on the statements i have recieved from the AA most definately PPI but on the loan taken out to pay for the insurance, i, today will be sending my claim off but for much, much more, ive been with AA for years and have a loan, a card and Motor insurance with them.

Only thing I can think of is that the posters are borrowing money to pay the annual premium. Most monthly car insurance payments are done on a loan basis. So, theoretically, that would allow PPI to exist.
