wall covering to stop mud splashes

I am looking for some ideas about what I could use on the utility room wall just inside my outside door to stop the paintwork getting in a mess.
I have dogs and moved to the country where life is one big mudbath and every time we come in from a walk I end up with mud splatters and dog height tidemarks up the wall.
I was thinking about putting a perspex sheet on the wall up to the height of the light switch or perhaps a bit of wet wall. Any thoughts whether this is a good idea or if there are any better solutions?
Getting rid of the dogs is not an option
Drying the dogs off before they come in isn't an option either as the utility room is just inside the front door.

wet wall or perspex would be fine, you could also tile.
Tiling would look nicer and a lot less like a public toilet.0 -
If you have a local glazier, see if they can cut you a piece of coloured glass the same as they'd use for a kitchen splashback. It would be very easy to wipe clean and it wouldn't scratch like perspex would if there was mud all over it. Also I'm not sure if you used tiles that the grouting would stay clean for that long if it was constantly covered in mud. IKEA sell some wall panels for use as kitchen splash backs (http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/80178216/) but not having seen them, not too sure how they'd cope with muddy mutts !
Good luck!0 -

Thanks for that. I did wonder about perspex scratching and looking scruffy really quickly. Tile grouting can look really scruffy too but glass sounds like it might be a goer. Thanks for the link.If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0 -
Wht don't you paint it with a wipeable emulsion such as silk, mid sheen or acrylic eggshell. All simply wipe ov er with a cloth. There is also a 'Diamond Matt' by Dulux whci is a truly scrubbale matt finish, but expensive (app £50/5 litres).Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

You can get coloured grout or grout stains, what about tiling in a darker colour, e.g. dark grey?0

We had a similar problem, I bought a 'picture holder' the ones which you clip the picture inbetween the front and back, from Wilkinsons, they have several sizes. I fixed to wall with clear silicone adhesive. so just have to wipe over with damp cloth to clean.0
