Thanks a lot Galtiz. BTW just realised that only 0.1g of sodium per serving in Tesco chopped tomatoes so I'll bung them in.

There was an article in the Metro newspaper ages ago about salt so I looked at the sodium content in tinned soup and beans etc.. and I was really shocked. I always look at the sodium content now before I buy anything. It's actually a good way to stop buying junk because most processed foods have too much salt in.

I'm including the following just in case it helps someone. I have it pinned to my fridge. I try not to buy anything with more than 0.2g of sodium in it per 100g.

    Sodium Salt (per 100g)
    0.5g / 1.275g = HIGH
    0.2g / 0.51g = NO MORE
    0.1g / 0.255g = LOW

1g sodium = 2.55g salt. 3-6g= max daily salt intake.

Highlight the bit you want with you mouse (click at the far left of Sodium with the left mouse button, hold down the button and move down and right until you get to the end of intake, everything will be highlighted in blue, let go of mouse button).

Hold down Ctrl key press C (let go of both) this copies it

Open word or another word processor (if you haven't got one on your computer you can use Notebook which is under accesories in the start menu then programs

When you have a new blank page click at the top of the page to get the flashing cursor then Hold down Ctrl again and press V (let go of both) this pastes it.

Then the text will appear and you can print it from the word processor (click on file and then print).

Sorry if some of this is too basic but I wasn't sure how techie you were :)

If you get the chance to get a load of tomatoes cheaply at a market, why not make up a big batch of tomato sauce and freeze in suitable sized portions. Or oven roast the tomatoes to bring out the flavour, then make tomato sauce.

    Hi,

just wondering what recipe you use? I've never made tomato sauce and would like to try out a tried & tested recipe :) and what's the best way to freeze them please? bags, plastic containers...

    Thanks

I bought some Kallo vegie gravy granules today from Holland and Barrett, also sold in stock cubes, very low sodium content. Haven't tried yet.

Have a look on THIS thread (1/2 way down first post)

I freeze everything in freezer bags. They mould to fit in the spaces then ;). I haven't had any split yet (touch wood) but I always double bag them.

They also sell a range of Kallo Organic stock cubes in Tesco ... as well as rice cakes ;)
