you mean the accounting year? The tax year ends in April, no?

I'm assuming so yes. Everything office wise and hubbys holidays end at the end of oct, starting again in the nov. is that what you meant?

It doesn't seem that common to me as everybody we have mentioned it to would be paid on the thurs!

I have looked at the DFW site before, i just thought it sounded as though they thought we were in debt, but we aren't.

The other thing is all this swapping and changing legally binding? (dates etc) as mentioned in my first post, hubby and co are told its happening by email and thats the end to it. They have never signed new contracts for it, and using HMRC as an excuse is untrue as we have phoned them ourselves and been told basically its a load of....horse poo!:)

Just another employer that cannot be bothered to treat its employees with respect. I bet there are other employer / employee relationship problems at the company. How many employees, do they do their own payrioll or do they contract it out ?
  • They do their own payroll, not sure on how many employee's, but less than 100 thats for sure.
Best thing is the email said to get in touch with a certain person (sender of said email) if you had "issues" with it, and guess what? He's on holiday! He knew what he was doing! lol :rotfl:

  • No debts to sort sorry.:rotfl:

You don't need to. But what there is on the DFW board is a wealth of advice of how to reduce costs such as how to get cheaper insurance, cut down on shopping bills etc.

Have been looking on there, and also the old fashioned money saving, even the up your income one.lol.

There will be some spare money (shopping etc) its just from the jobs hubby has booked in for march, there would have been a bit extra from ofertime due good fri, that we could have just said "sod it, lets go somewhere" but now can't.

Its a good job my boys love the days out in woods, playparks etc and are happy with picnics, that we can still do (if weather is good). just feels like the choice has been taken from us, if that makes sense.

If they had no respect for the employers they wouldn't have given any notice, thus your arguement is wrong.

I suppose if you're not paid until April 10th, it makes it a nice short month until May 7th.

We are paid twice a month. Once on the 15th (they call it an advance) and then again on the last day of the month. It makes budgeting much easier for me and I can't imagine going back to waiting 31 days between pay days.

If the 15th or the last day falls on a weekend or a bank holiday, we are paid the Friday before.

We use Barclays for our wage posting which is for the previous week (Sat-Mon) then processed on Monday, posted directly using Barclays own Program and in the Employees Bank Account on the Wednesday.
If there are any awkward dates like Easter i will just pay the same amount as the week before thus enabling the money to be paid into their account on the Wednesday following Easter, and then put right any discrepancies the week after, quite simple really.
Been doing Payroll Management for nearly 30 years and never a problem, as long as you explain to any New Employees what the procedures are for such eventualities.

It is just enough respect to stick at the injury of delaying payday and not go for the full insult of not telling them. Which is not really enough to dismiss molerat's point.

On a technicality, molerat did not actually make any argument. It was an observation, which to my mind stands on the whole, followed by a speculation and a question.

Tres Bon on the second part...no argument to be made :)

Still disagree on the first part.
