wireless laptop problem

bought a acer aspire 5633wlmi from tesco. i can't get the wireless to work when it asks for the key i type it in and nothing i have seen this question asked on techie before can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong

    Try holding down the Fn key when you type the key in as this disables the keypad
  • When you say 'the key', do you mean the WEP/WPA security key? What sort of security have you got set on your router? Are you sure you're putting in the correct key? Are you definitely connecting to your own router & not a neighbour's? It may be easiest to reset the router & start again - make sure you can connect without security for a start.

    holding the fn key down does not work. yes it is the WEP key found at the bottom of my orange livebox C588 and i am sure i am using my router and not a neighbours. any other ideas need help
