If I rent my roof to a company in return for free electricity would my house insurance costs rise? And if there is some problem with the roof in the future would I have to pay for the damage? IF the solar panels cracked in the frost who would be responsible.

call your buildings insurance company and ask , only they can tell you - some say its included , others say no , and yet others cancel it if you alrleady have panels!
if the damage is as a result of the panels then the company who fit them would be liable , as they would be if the panels and invertor need replacing in the future.0 -
Since solar panels contain no liquid, they're not very likely to crack in the frost.
I think you are confusing solar PV with solar thermal.
Solar PV panels are entirely maintenance free-no moving parts. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Hi, has anyone had the free solar panels installed by freetricity? I'm new to this forum, my first question as well. I just wondered if anyone could give me any type of comments concerning this? I have just had the company surveyor in today. I just don't know whether I'm doing the right thing before I commit myself to Freetricity.Thanks0

Not a direct answer, but a clue could be, did they knock on your door, junk mail or cold call you?
Or did you contact them?
If any of the former I suggest you tread very carefullyEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Was the 'surveyor' actually a salesmen? No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Not sure about premiums but
Read the terms carefully, is there someone at home during the day? If so great, if not, then the benefit you will get will be very minor and probably not worthwhile.
You would also need to adjust your habits to truly make the most out of it. Making sure you put the washing machine on when it is a nice day etc. (Although when the sun is out people tend to go out)0
