Childrens DLA & Tax Credits

Waiting on a renewal for child DLA currently receiving low rate care & mobility. Currently receive tax credits but get extra because of the child DLA. I am expecting he may lose the mobility element as he has now turned 13 & wondered how this would effect tax credits. Would they stay the same or be reduced for losing this element. Had a look at the child tax calculator & if you put yes in for DLA it only asks if you claim higher rate. Would tax credits remain the same if he keeps the low rate care without mobility. Just trying to plan ahead really.

my understanding (and this is just from what I've read recently as in the process applying for DLA for my daughter) is that:

    for the disability element:

    No disability - £0
DLA (lower and middle) - £2,800
    DLA (Higher Rate) - £3,930

So, from what you've said, the same rate applies.
  • The mobility element isn't considered for tax credits, just the care rate.
  • Think its different when claiming for a child x
The feeling i got when i confirmed my place studying criminology at Exeter Uni was brilliant!!!!!

The pride my children told me they had in me was even better!!!!! # setting positive example to children is OUTSTANDING!!!! !:grouphug::grouphug::smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea
  • Why's that then?
  • Don't be daft, I currently work for HMRC and tax credits, it is simply the care element of DLA that is taken into consideration, regardless of if it is a child who is disabled, or an adult.

    Thanks
  • Thx everyone I thought that must be the case but was not sure.
