Laptop screen hasn't worked for absolutely gaes, broke after about 8 months of having it, got it fixed then it broke again 6 months after and the company ignored me after that. I've had it attatched to an old monitor for ages now but that finally collapsed today so i'm back to the broken screen. By broken i mean that it doesn't display properly, it's dark but there is still an image on it, this confused me as i can press a button to switch the backlight off and when i do thta it goes pitch black so the backlight is at least working a bit, any advice, it's only short term as i'm on the lookout for a new system just now anyway.

I'd suggest to get another old inexpensive monitor for the time being. Check your local computer shop/the dump/ads in newsagents/local newspapers that have classifieds/Freecycle. If not free, you should be able to get one for £5-10 till you're able to get a new system. Good luck, G
P.S. May I suggest to edit your title to be more descriptive of the problem. Ta

thanks for the advice, i'm using it with the dark screen right now , i think i'm just going to accelerate my search for a new system and order in the next few days so i'll probably not bother with replacing the monitor. I'd love to edit the title as yeah, it is a bit stupid but i only seem to be able to edit the content of the postBought, not Brought0
