My sister in law has just turned up at mine, for some daft reason she has put lanolin in her hair but not just a little bit - loads lol.
Her hair has gone really greasy and she cant get it out.
She did this a few days ago and even after 4 washes it hasnt made any difference at all.
She has tried to use washing up liquid which has lifted it a little but seriously not that much.
She's really embaressed :rotfl:.
Her hair is long, just down to her bra strap.
Any ideas at all how to get rid?
She's really desperate.
TIA

The only thing I can think of is using vinegar.I'm not that way reclined
Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!0 -

I've been looking at clarifying shampoo recipes and bicarbonate of soda is the most recommended. 1tbsp bicarb to 2 tbsps shampoo, mix in your hand then lather into hair as usual. Alternatively, dissolve it in warm water in a jug, pour over hair, massage in and leave for 15 mins or so before rinsing. Can swap water for apple cider vinegar (imagine any vinegar would work).
I did a homemade warm oil treatment using olive oil ages ago and used a vinegar & lemon juice rinse for it, as well as a few rinses with normal shampoo, it got all the oil out fine.0 -
According to Google its very like putting vaseline in your hair and pretty impossible to get out.
Fairy platinum (the grease busting one) may help. Then lots of conditioner when its out.0 -
Has she tried putting shampoo on dry hair? Putting on wet wont work as oil (grease) and water dont mix. Doing this a few times should shift it.
Or using talc or cornflour on dry hair to blot up the grease (I guess a dry shampoo could help too) then washing.
Other than that WD40? Not sure what the state of her hair would be like afterwards though!I wish I would take my own advice!0 -
I was about to suggest the same as 'youdontseeme' try put shampoo or fairy liquid onto dry hair and massage in well, and then wash as normal. HTH0

^^^This.
But I'd use Fairy, or any detergent.0 -

Supposedly soluble in Methanol which would suggest that methylated spirits might be worth a careful test. You probably wouldn't want to get too much of that on your hair or scalp but it might be possible to finely spray it on or wipe it on with a cloth to reduce the contact. However test it on the ends first.Adventure before Dementia!0

Shampoo on dry hair. Really, really go for it regarding massaging the shampoo in as it won't spread as easily when the hair is dry then rinse it off and shampoo again.
Paraffin, white spirit and meths are also worth a try.4.30: conduct pigeon orchestra...0
