void insurance disclosure

Given the cover situation & the associated distress it might be worth giving the FOS a ring with a view to getting them to have an informal word with the insurers.
If the insurers accept it was inadvertent then the only way the voiding is going to be upheld is if they wouldn't have offered cover had they known about the claim. Might be worth having a word with them with a view to continuing cover until the complaint is resolved, as an extra lever, point out that if they don't then you will have to arrange cover elsewhere at significant extra cost which you will then seek to recover from them.0 -
There is no cover in place at the minute so have you tried ringing companies rather than getting quotes online. You will obviously have to declare the cancelled insurance but you may find that insurers will consider the circumstances.
They will want to have a full claims history for the past 5 years and if this is the only incident (which was inadvertently omitted) you may be able to obtain cover from mainstream insurers.
Just to ask - how did they find out about the previous claim? It would not be normal that insurers would routinely investigate customers claims history unless there was another issue or claim on the policy.
In any case, it is worth pursuing with FOS as it was a genuine mistake.0
