Hi All,
New here and not sure if this is the right place to post this.
For a little while I have been thinking of opening a blog on my humble analysis of stocks/shares and investments.
I think it really revolves around getting a good domain name and I've seen one on ebay (i know i could come up with one but I really like this one) its ftsepro.co.uk
Random I know but do you think it would be worth me paying a few quid for this?

How much is it selling for? And if you really care about that domain name I would edit it out of your post, otherwise some enterprising squatter reading this thread may decide to buy it from under your nose.
Somewhat generic names like that aren't worth very much in and of themselves, and with the new Top-Level Domains coming available (e.g. the controversial .xxx) then there are more to choose from, therefore yours is less likely to hold value.
If you want to blog, and plan to do so frequently, you can earn a not inconsiderable amount of money buy affiliating with Google Adwords - sign up with them, and you can have Google Ads on your blog. The more you blog, the more relevant the ads become, and the more visitors you attract the more money you get from Google. You only get a few pennies or fractions of a penny per view, but if you can ramp up the visitor numbers then you can make a lot from the volume.
All depends on the quality of your content though
e: for clarification AdWords is if you want to buy advertising - AdSense is if you want to earn money from having ads appear on your blog:

Hey mrmalkin
the domain looks pretty cheap at the moment £17, I think its worth it for a good name tbh.
Might make me sound professional even!
Anyway thanks for the above advice looks great.

For £17 you may as well buy it, some domain registrars are cheaper than that but not by much. Either way your hosting fees will probably work out more than that over a year.
Just make sure your site has a nice clean design and you post articles regularly so you attract and keep viewers. Look into using Twitter and Facebook to drum up more interest and hopefully you'll get some buzz going, then see where this journey takes you0 -
The other costs will depend on the host. Relic host, for example, had a deal a while back for £6 a year hosting, though that was very much a bare-bones type of arrangement (suited me when I made a couple of websites).
I should state, though, that it might be considered very misleading for the OP to refer to or market themselves as a professional unless they are actually working as a financial analyst or similar type of role, in which case the blog would probably have to be approved by the compliance department of the blogger's employer.I am a Chartered Financial Planner

I see what you mean Aegis, I am by no means a pro, just interested.
I was hoping it would end up more like a discussion blog with me providing what I would be investing in (if i could) rather than me stating this is what you should invest in.0
