DIY glass top table

Hi there
has anyone ever 'made' their own dining room table by purchasing the legs and glass top separately?
if so, any tips to be aware of, ie does the weight of the glass keep it anchored
we are quite aware of the dangers/pitfalls of them (but still want one) and would of course put safety first

A friend made his own coffee table with a set of 4 giant castors and a 10mm thick glass top. Looked really nice and it was very heavy. Explain to any glazier what you are doing and they will cut and grind the appropriate glass and drill any holes.0

a lot of glass topped tables only have small suction pads to hold the heavy glass in place.

We have a commercially made glass top dining table 5 feet in diameter with glass about 10mm thick.
The glass is very heavy and difficult to move. It just stands directly on a round wooden base 3 feet in diameter and we've had it for about 20 years with no problems. So I don't see why you couldn't make your own.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards.
