I too thought the Eon reps post very balanced & helpful.
You have not been left with a debt because of their meter readers visit but because the money you have been paying was well under your actual usage.
If it is true that you were placed on the wrong tarrif at Eons suggestion there may be a case for back billing to apply & rebilling which would probably reduce your debt but I wouldn't necessarily expect an all electric property to be costing you £30 p/m (or even £42pm) these days0
