Bmi Cancel September Flight

I booked a flight to Prague with BMI for september
and paid for it when booking about 7 weeks back.

I recieved a email from them today saying that
they have canceled the flight and I will be refunded
in 28 days.

I think this is shocking treatment since hotels
airport transfers and everything else has been arranged.

In the email they say I should contact my private insurance
for any claim.

BMI have taken my money and should be liable.

Is there anything I can do about this disgusting treatment ?

The terms and conditions probably say that they can do this, and you probably ticked something to agree to them.

Have you found alternative flights with similar timings?

richardw, only just recieved the email so not looked yet.

Yes I would have ticked a T&C box however it is disgusting they can treat
us like this ,if I had changed my mind and decided not to travel do you
think they would have said no problem here is all your money back.

Plus why is it they are taking 28 days to pay my money back ?

I will get in touch with the civil aviation authority to find out the exact regulations in this type of situation..

No there's not, and actually you're quite lucky. One budget Airline was doing this on a regular basis at the end of last year. Many people had their flights cancelled at the latest possible date - 7 days before departure and within the Airlines T&C's.

The only shambles is your education as ALL airlines throughout the world have ALWAYS had the right to cancel flights with a full refund if they give enough notice.

It's terrible. I think you should move to another country so you don't have to put up with it anymore.

We already spend 6 months a year away, its nice to come back
to remind ourselves what a dump it is and the living (transport, crime, etc)conditions people here have to put up with and how lucky we are
out of it for 50% of the year.
Another 6 years and it will be 11 months a year out of this dump of a country I can assure you.
