What is the cheapest way to cash a cheque without having a bank account? Is there a way do do it for free?

Without a bank account all I can think of is one of those dodgy cheque cashing shops/pawn brokers.0

The easiest way would be to open a simple basic or savings account I think.
Anyone else will charge a fee. The only other option is to see if the cheque can be made payable to a friend, and ask them to pay it into their account and give you cash when cleared.Amazon sellers club - member number 63.
