diesel estate recommendations

The OH has finally admitted that the time may be right to sell our current car. We have a Volvo V40 T4 (Poor boy is gutted!) I think we would get around £500 ish for her ( V reg, quite high miles, but FSH, and in quite good condition)
We need an estate (3 dogs and a baby!), OH drives a lot for work (30ish miles per day) so we are thinking that diesel would probably be a better move for us) our budget is around 2k
What would you recommend?

He will be gutted !
Probably the best wolf in sheep's clothing car ever made, looks like an old man mobile, smokes any GTI in style.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Yes he is...she is the "other woman" she is named Wilma (because she is orange) apparently they burn up Audis, and BMWs on a daily basis.
Aside from the cost of running her (new tyre last week was £156) she is perfect. Just the right size, boot, is big enough for three dogs, and NCAP rating for the age of the beast is pretty good too.0 -
Is that 30 miles every day, or every week day?
30 miles a day is not a lot at all, even if its 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year then thats only 11,000 miles a year.
I think the recommended switch over to diesel figure is 14,000 IIRC, about that anyway...
As for recommendations, how old are you looking and what budget?
The Kia Ceed Estate and Hyundai i30 estate are good cars with long warranty but without a budget then they may be well out of your range.A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A

Every week day. But also do journeys at the weekends (normal family stuff, shopping, visiting oldies etc)
Budget is around 2k...dont want to buy a heap (he did buy a Rover 400 around 4 years ago...lesson learned!)
He isnt a petrol head, but he does like a nice car..feel mean enough doing this to him, so dont want to lumber him with a car he hates0 -
sorry..didnt word that right, its 30 miles each way (so 60 miles a day)0

Sorry, just realised I missed the budget you gave in the OP.
£2000 isn't much of a budget for this sort of car and you risk getting a lemon... is there anything wrong with your current car? You say its in good condition and FSH.... if I were you i'd try and run it as long as possible until it dies, and in that time try and save a bit more cash for something newer.A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A

The Torq on the titanium x is incredible, they pull like a train from 2000rpm all the way to the red line, they eat the aud/ volkswagon red I diesels for breakfast
