Just found £10 in my bank account, sent from my mum for my half of the bingo winnings. We actually won a bit more than that but I told her to 'keep the change', lol.

    Morning folks,

Lolly, if you need a few more books for your hols, you could be even more MSE and borrow them from your library. I'd never even thought about it until my mum (the librarian) suggested it. I used to spend around £20 a time on holiday reads! Libraries also don't mind a little damage if its under 5s. Anyway, just thought i'd pass that on.

Made £31.50 on ebay!! Banked. Will update tomorrow too, when more items finish and will (hopefully) have more paypal payments. Have updated sig.

    Have a good day all!

  • Well I didn't have a productive day after all yesterday! Ended up having a row with a woman in Halifax because she treated me like I was a 3 year old. I hate the way they look down at you. Basically their online website let me apply for a balance transfer credit card and it told me to go in with the documents. However my original credit card is with Halifax so I wasn't sure if this was allowed. So I rung up customer service first to ask and they said that if the computer said yes then it was allowed. So then I went into the bank with the documents and the woman basically had a massive go at me and called me an idiot if I thought they would let me do that. Err your online system and customer service says its ok!! Took all my strength not to scream at her. But instead I calmly told her I would go bank elsewhere where people were polite to me. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

    Sorry for the rant!!!

On a positive note, I went into boots to pay sun cream lotion for our hols at easter (this was booked before my lightbulb moment and now I regret it but might as well go and enjoy it now!) and I raided the sales rack. I got 5 bottles of sun cream lotion and one after sun for £1.13. Massive bargain! Still can't believe it. Normally I would just go and buy the full price ones without looking for an alternative. I'm not going to count the saving because its not going off my credit card!

Oh and reached payout on Swag but will wait till it clears to cash that in.

    Well done iloveshoes21.

About Halifax, I left them years ago as I stood in the branch cancelled a standing order, which they did not cancel, and money was deducted from my account. They took money from someone else's account to pay another standing order  and it was only because I checked my account to find the money had not gone out and checked to find out what had happened.

Write a letter to the Manager explaining what happened, and how you were treated. Change banks, talk with your feet. But before you do, look around to see if any offering incentives to change, so you may get money for moving, but do not bank with santander.

wd on your savings iloveshoes :) and for holding your temper in Halifax - i hate that kind of thing - no need for it!!!! If you really want to get the 0% or transfer thing contact customer services and ask if you can post copies in because the branch were so rude to you.

Then once you have that move to another bank to use as well :D

Ooh, thanks for that :) I'd forgotten about the library, lol! We used to go every week, but I fell out with them a couple of years ago - a close family member died and I was a few days late with a DVD... they tried to charge me over £20 for it!!! More than it was even worth! They couldn't see how ridiculous that was (and I still owe it now, lol!), so I've not used them since. DS1 still has a card though so I may take him, as he loves books so I want him to be able to make use of the library... will save him a fortune over the years!

Its a pleasure Lolly! I think most librarians would have cancelled the charges on that DVD, particularly under the circumstances. Looks like you got a right Hitler that day!! Hopefully that nasty person will have left now!

Yes, I would have thought that they would have too! I was really shocked as she got quite snappy with me and told me that she didn't care about my excuses, and that I couldn't use the library again unless I gave her the money. So I just said, 'Fine, I won't use the bloody library again then!' and stomped out! :rotfl: Think we must have caught each other on an 'off day', lol.

Lolly, Thats so shocking. If you have any problems, I would ask for the phone number of area manager, I am sure they will relent then!! Good luck hon!
