Hi to all,
Firstly, I do apologise if this has been posted somewhere else on the forum.
Secondly, I am new to this forum and after a bit of advice please.
Back in 2006 I went into a debt management programme with a company called Byrom & Keeley (based in Machester) I was paying them roughly £150pm for them to distribute to my creditors on a pro-rata basis. This went smoothly for about a year and they were sending me regular statements to say it was going to the creditors.
In October 2007, I came into a bit of money and was able to ask B&K for a settlement figure for all debts. My total debts were around £12k. B&K told me they could clear everything off for £10k. This seemed OK to me as that was roughly the amount I had available. So I sent them a cheque for £10k and that was that.
A couple of months ago I received a letter from a debt collection company saying that I still owed them money. I contacted them and it was one of the accounts that B&K supposedly paid off in 2007 !! Them amount was for around £2k. There has been another company contact me for a £200 debt too.
I looked for B&K on the internet and they have bought out a few times and are currently owned my Money Group Plus. I contacted them with my old B&K reference number and explained my situation. They looked into it and said the £2k account was not paid, but as it was from B&K it would take a while to search back through the files and check what has happened to my money.
This has been going on for about 3 weeks and I keep calling them asking for updates, but all I get is the finance department are looking into it. I have asked them for a statement to show where all my money has gone, because even with what they were saying has been paid off, there is still £2.5k missing - for which they said they would refund me.
I am just after a bit of advice of if there is anything I can do or any organisation I can talk to if this new company does not pay my original creditors or give me and refund.
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.
Thank you so much
Richard

If it were me, and this is just my opinion, I'd write to the creditors (all of them) were your supposed to paid off in 2007 and ask for full statements of monies paid as you've recently had reason to think that some discrepancies have arisen with your former DMP provider. That way you should find out if a) it was paiud at all and b) whether the agreement was for a full and final settlement or not.Our LBM: Dec 2011. DMP started: Jan 2012. Debt at LBM: £41,568
Oct 2012 = Current debt: £40,548.93
Oct 2013 = Current debt: £39.054.70
DMP Support number 424 - Long haul number 3080
