Best card for paying car insurance in one lump?

My insurance is 1600 or so and while I do have it in savings I'd rather not tie the cash up. Just wondering what possibilities there are, preferably with a limit big enough and 0% for as long as possible (6 month min)

Currently have no CC, never missed any payments, address for 15 years, electoral role for 6, no mortgage and earn ~25k. Do have a small loan with Halifax that I'm 8 months into.

Halifax All In One would do the job, subject to acceptance - 15 months at 0%.

Alternatively, look at the links at the top of the page. 5% cashback card, pay the balance up in full and have £80 to show for your trouble.

The example credit limit is too low, or is that the minimum just as an example? I'm with halifax for all my accounts so it would be a lot easier.
  • You will find it hard to get a 0% card as you do not have previous credit history - greater risk, will put prie lenders off. Try your own bank who you bank with or for a creation card - 0% purchase for 9 months if declined then you will need to build a credit history using a sub prime card I.e. capital one and pay off every month as interest is high!

True, my only credit has been car finance, two previously paid off in full and a current one. Had my phone and Sky contracts for years and never been declined credit mind, it can't hurt to apply I suppose!

A mobile phone contract maybe classed as credit just thought that I'd throw that into the pot

Had my phone over 5 years on a contract, also car finance counts as credit doesn't it? Must of had over 14k worth all paid off.

Noddle gives me a 5/10 chance at the Halifax All in One account, so I'm not hopeful but who knows, they may give me it they may not! Anyone any ideas?

Noddle don't know you already have a relationship with Halifax. If they have your main current account, ie salary/income and most/all of your DDs etc, and you've run it well, then they're your best bet for a card.

They may even have a guaranteed offer of a card for you...check online or call into branch and ask them.

All my accounts are Halifax, ISA, Reward, Savings etc and so are all my DD's and always have been so you may be right, we shall see. :)
