Excellent service, very impressed.

Well, is there anyone out there with a positive thing to say about a Travel Agent, Tour Operator, Airlines etc?

Just wondered as reading through here it seems that everyone in the travel industry is out to get you. Maybe it's worth rewarding and naming companies who have impressed you?

If anyone has recently??

Coop travelcare (high street and online) usually come up trumps for me - they are very helpful and efficient and will normally price match or beat most deals. AND because I have a coop travel credit card I get an extra 5% off any deal, and no CC surcharge.

Having said that, Chris (Travelman on here) recently did me a blinding deal to Turkey. He is also linked to Coop, but afaik not CoopTravelCare (tho I am happy to be corrected on this)

Booked with Hays Travel many times and only ever had one problem which they sorted out quickly.I know the girls in our local Hays on 1st name terms now and they are all very professional and will go that extra mile to find you the deal you want at competitive prices.

With regard to Travel Agents, as in all walks of life, there are good and bad. I was looking to get away one Whitsun, just a week or 10 days in Spain or similar. Went into the local Co-Op TA, they asked me my budget, which was on the modest end, I think I said up to £1,000 for the 5 of us, the agent said "I'm not even going to bother to look, there won't be anything for that". Went into Lunn Poly a few doors away, the agent in there searched her system for at least half an hour and found a deal to Salou for around £600, which we booked and it was superb.

Now I'm not saying rush out to Lunn Poly, if they still exsist, or boycott the Co-Op just that some staff seem more interested than others so dont be afraid to shop around.

Travel agents rock, you should never look or book on the internet, (:D ) & as for teletext - well don't get me started. And if you do decide to book with one of these options, please don't come in & complain when it all goes t!ts up, oh go on then, just so we can say 'told ya so' !!! ;)

Now, I am not saying she should of said this to you, or any client, but I'd love to say that sometimes!!! Some people need to get real, & by some people I mean the ones that come in & say they have seen a great deal on text/internet for £150 5* all inclusive, going in a couple days - usually July/August time. Well if it is that great, why haven't you booked it already then???!!!

I am shocked she wasn't pulled up on this, even if you think the budget a client has in mind isn't realistic, you should always have a look for them anyway. And as you found out, she was totally wrong. I must say, £600 for 5 of you is a fab deal.
:D I am in the future you know...

I have a friend who works for Holiday Elite (Internet,Teletext and home agents) I have become good friends with her through the good service I have had over many years. You cannot say all teletext agents are no good or all indies are good find one you get good service from a stick to them they are a dieing breed.
BTW I found her off teletext
If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel

  • I had a good experience last week! :j

Went to London for 3 nights, and stayed in the London Guards Hotel.

Booked through Expedia (lastminute.com were cheaper but had ran out of their allocated double rooms), and cost me £205. Is it me or is that cheap for London!!!

Had rooms cleaned every day, fresh towels, fresh bedding, toiletries topped up (soap, shampoo, shower gel, body cream, shower caps)

Everyone was really friendly and helpful. Included continental buffet breakfast.

    Will definitely be going again!!!:T
  • No, sorry no good word to say especially when you they do not honour their prices! I have booked longhaul flights today with Expedia received my email confirmation only to be called 5 minutes later and told that the flights are not available at the price I had just bought them for. What do you do when you've just let your 6 year old read the confirmation letting him know that he's about to spend his first birthday ever with his Grandparents!? So I ended up paying the extra £520!
So sorry no good word to say!!!

You had a contract, I would not have paid any extra, still time to take it up with them and if they don't agree to abide by their contract, take them to the Small Claims Court
