Public Liability & Prof Indemnity - Photography

I need to sort a new insurance policy for my photography business.
I need Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance.
I want to know if people have good experiences with Hiscox as an insurance provider?
And, do any photographers/experienced people have any advice on how much I should be covered for on each policy please?
I was planning to get £2million Public Liability and £250,000 Professional Indemnity.
Currently, I undertake wedding photography, corporate events reportage, and corporate architecture and portraiture.
I don't work underwater, and don't do aerial photography. I also rarely work in a studio and don't have a major lighting rig (I use speedlights for lighting work, and these are battery powered).
Many thanks.

Hiscox tend to provide good cover but their premiums do normally reflect this. Is £250k for PI appropriate? Wouldn't £100k suffice for what you are doing?
They are my current PI/PL/EL providers but that was more to do with the challenges of getting PI insurance when your job is advising insurance companies - if nothing else they've a conflict of interests. Most wouldnt touch me or came back with silly quotes including Hiscox but a conversation with one of their underwriters helped me secure a better rate.0 -
Hi Canzon. I can advise you on this.
Visit my website by searching for Entrust Insurance on google.

Thanks, I appreciate the answer.
One thing attracting me to Hiscox is the fact that I can pay monthly. I checked against places like SimplyBusiness and got quotes from Finsbury Insurance and Aegeas, but they were charging roughly the same amount and wanted it as a lump sum, which isn't great for my cashflow (just had some big spends investing in some new equipment).
Maybe £100k would be enough. I'll have a think and compare the prices before deciding.
So long as Hiscox are reliable and reputable, I"m happy - I just don't fancy paying for a policy only to find out the company is bad at a later date.December Wins: Karoke party in Soho; hotpants :eek:0 -
I've looked at different prices with Hiscox for different amounts of insurance and there is only £2 per month difference between getting £100,000 PI with £2mill PL and getting £250,000 PI with £5mill PL.
So I'm going with the higher option. The amount I'd pay difference is negligible, but the signalling for those booking me is higher.December Wins: Karoke party in Soho; hotpants :eek:0
