Is it shorts and shirts at nightime or jeans? Anybody recommend any places to visit or any other useful tips, on bar prices entertainment etc. ...cheers

  • The 2 cruises I have done (not with Ocean Village) have formal nights but we never went to them, in fact we evry rarely went into the dining room and used the buffet style restaurant. Not being anti-social but if I am travelling half way round the world I aint taking a dinner jacket plus some other fancy stuff so I can wear it for a couple of hours. More to the point I would first have to buy a DJ and some fancy clothes!!

I suspect Ocean Village is probably less formal than these and there is always other options for dining.

Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI
  • My mum and Dad are going on this same cruise in September. It's their first time cruising. They have been told as you have that its informal but long trousers must be worn in the Dining room. I'll be interested to see the resposes you get to this post so I can let them know. My mum can't wait to go!
  • there are no set formal or semi formal wear at all on the ocean village..... however I dont think they allow people to dine in their bikinis.... but I have had customers that didnt like the fact there were people eating whith shorts on but there is a bistro restraunt which apparently is a little more smart casual...

    hope that helps

bar prices are much like pub price in the UK
if you go to the OV web site and go to the ship tour there is a drinks menu with a few prices on
List your ports and I will try to help...done a few OV cruises and a couple of Greek cruises
there were a couple of people who wore shorts at night but they went up to the plantation restraunt and not the better waterfront which most people dressed smart casual and some went the opposite end and went OTT
If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel

We have done 4 cruises with OV.
You can really do what you want.
We like to dress up a bit at night (not ballgowns but smart)
We never felt out of place in any of the resturants.
There are a real mixture of people on the cruises and I would say there is something for everyone.
Bar prices in the bars & shows.
    The staff are really helpful.
I am sure you will have a great time
    Good luck

  • No shorts in the dingrooms evening time and no swimwear in restaurants at all. Just a beach wrap would suffice for the ladies and a pair of shorts over swimming trunks for the men. It really is a laid back cruise and pretty much anything goes! sally
