Get your GP to write a letter, to state that you are unable to work due to x, y, z. If atos ignore it, send it to the dwp, as something to back up your claim.

Get HRM, MRC. Nothing else as I have savings etc.

The issue is due to glass backs, many with long term or perminant problems are tarred with the same brush. So many people will always claim to have the top 1% of the problem, but they are all different. Each and every injury is different take advice as much as you can, but you'll end up having to find your own path.

There's a certain amount of truth in what you say in that:

    a. A goodly percentage of the population are predisposed to back problem.

    b. Too many people claim a higher level than what they're entitled to.

What people don't realise is that these days, in many cases, the back injury or condition CAN be graded.

I also suffer with back problems i have been having problems with my back for over 40yrs most of my problems are lumber the consultant told me that i have arthritis in my lower spine,
i have had epidural injections and facet joint injections neither of which did any good for me i was offered surgery when i was in my 30's and told i had a 50% chance of being in a wheelchair so i declined that,
I saw a consultant at the pain clinic at my local hospital and he prescibed brupenorphine patches they worked alright for a while but i got a reaction to the patches now i am taking brupenophine tablets that you let disolve under your tongue these do help with the every day pain but when my back goes into muscle spasm these tabs don't touch the pain and i get diazepam tabs from the doc to help with the muscle spasms,
I am waiting for the medical from ESA or who ever is doing the medicals and i worry that they will say that i am fit for work when i have trouble just to get up in the morning,
the last time i had an MRI scan the consultant told me that he could not see anything wrong with my back and when i have had previous MRI scans they have shown that i have heriated discs and scoliosis,
how can two poeple come up with two different conclusions,

I would get a second opinion from a different doc at a different hospital. You will never get an honest one from a doc in the same hospital (it's all about contradicting a colleague)
