Above AA, what's that? And this £24 per week what's that based on? And would we be claiming as a couple or do I just claim? Because my partner works 16 hours, I have never claimed when being with someone so wouldn't know. And presumably if we have to claim as a couple they'd take off my partner's weekly wage of £97.28 off any amount we'd get?
Income based JSA for a couple is £111.45. Your partner's earnings minus a £10pw disregard is subtracted from this, so £87.28 is taken off the full amount leaving you with about £24pw.0 -

You claim. You'd need to jump through the JSA hoops ie prove you're actively searching for work.
So only I claim? Not my partner as well.Soniclord wrote:And presumably if we have to claim as a couple they'd take off my partner's weekly wage of £97.28 off any amount we'd get?
Yes, that's why you're left with only £24.

So do we claim as a couple or not? As I note you said 'I claim' in your 1st comment, I'm only trying to work it all out as if I claimed then it's not as a couple, but are you saying (as per the DWP rules) that they still take into account partners income anyway, as I suspect that is the case.
Thanks for replying again.0 -

I called HMRC (again), they said there isn't any ongoing entitlement on their system, it sounds like we will have to wait for the system to be updated with the new post 6th April calculations and go from there. The advisor did tell me they have been 'advised' to tell anyone with an income over £32,200 and 2 children that payments will stop just to add to the confusion.
Left our claim open and will call back after 9th/10th April, still no answers, more frustration !!!I'd be demanding if they messed me around as much as the OP0 -
Hi.Looking for some advice.
I'm being made redundant from 1/7/12.My wife is also due a baby in 3 weeks and I have my 13 year old daughter living full time with us.
My wife earns 22,500 a year and I have been offered a job 25 hours paying 10k a year.My wife is going back to work full time in July.
How much benefit will be be entitled to?
The childcare costs will be £80 a week for the baby.
I done the search on here and it states we would receive £50 a week but when I checked the Direct Gov it came out at almost 5 times that.
Can anyone please shed any light on this for us.It would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you.0 -
I have recieved a letter stating our tax credits will end this month. We get £42 a month. I realise that if you have 2 children the threshold is £32,000 or thereabouts. Currently we are slightly over this.
I am actually finishing work on 27th April as we can no longer afford the childcare so our wages will be below that threshold. Do I need to tell the TC office now or wait until after 27th?

Did you ring HMRC by 31st March and tell them you want to stay in the system?
If not, your claim will not be renewed. You will need to fill in a brand new claim before 5th May to ensure you don't miss out on any entitlement for 2012/2013 if there is any.

Me and my partner will lose exactly £3427.84 as my partner works 16 hours per week earning £5058 per year.
Can i just ask something, and this isnt having a go at you.
Three thousand quid is a lot to lose in particular when your on that wage, but do you think that it was fair in the first place to give the same wage to those working 16hours versus those who work 40+. That is essentially what the tax credits system does.Salt0
