Rejected for bizarre reasons, advice anyone ?

Not having much success with all this to be fair !

Had a rejection letter from Clydesdale / Yorkshire Bank today, they have sent quite a long rejection letter stating that the loan was applied for using the telephone application process and that they had reviewed the telephone conversation and deemed the operative had informed us of all the points and told us it was optional etc etc etc and therefore we had CHOSEN to take the PPI.

Point is that we actually went into the bank to apply for this, it was never done over the phone at all. We were told to take the PPI to get the loan application approved and then cancel after 1 year (which we did... to the day).

My question is therefore, as they state that this is their full and final response, do I :-

A/. Go back to them and appeal as I think that they have had a bit of a mixup

B/. Go straight to the ombudsman and explain all this

C/. Give up as I am now fed up after having been mis sold three PPI policies and have been rejected by them all for weird reasons.. :( (sorry for the rant but I have no hair left to pull out)

Sounds like a typical fob off, but they look like they have shot themselves in the foot ;) Only problem is they say it is their full and final response which means they may not deal with you any further on this :( You could try phoning and seeing what reaction you get when you put them straight on how you applied (ask them for a transcribe of the call) ;) I think sending a letter or e mailing may just get ignored. If you have no joy on the phone FOS it with a copy of this response and make sure the FOS are aware of how you applied. You could try phoning FOS and asking their advice first, would be interesting to get their view on it :)
    Successes
    Sainsbury's/BOS £6,400 Paid :)
    MBNA £3,600 Paid :)
  • It sounds like the bank will look rather silly when FOS ask for the evidence!
