Hi, folks just wondering if you would have any idea what a large pile ,approx large car boot full would cash in at a scrappy for . Pulled all this out of my renovation project. couldnt believe how much there was sitting in the ceilings although it did used to be a shop. any wild guesses, it is unstripped by the way , dont think i will have time to strip it, cheers

stripping the cable will only make it worth a tiny bit more, most dealers have a machine, £1500 a tonne a few days ago i was taking some lead in and a electrician came in with about the same as you,he got £106. Ring round for a price ,they varied 25% on lead when i rang about0

Thanks, that sounds good , worth the trip then by the sounds of it, i will have a ring around.
also i have a load of copper pipe some is painted , would i need to separate the painted and non painted.you go in the cage ! cage goes in the water ! sharks in the water ! our shark :eek:0 -
I got £1.30 /kilo on Thursday.
In terms of your copper, you don't need to seperate the painted stuff, but you would be better seperating the pure copper out (known as 'bright copper') from what is known as 'braisery'. Braisery is the copper with impurities on it such as solder, brass fittings etc. Bright copper is worth about 40% more than braisery, so its worth the effort.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
cheers, i have some pipe which looks new( nice and shiny ) , but also some which i removed which is clean but is dull in colour compared to the shiney stuff . but doesnt have solder or fittings . what would this count as ?you go in the cage ! cage goes in the water ! sharks in the water ! our shark :eek:0

Hubby got a tenner for a bin bag full of coax cable not so long ago. Depends on what sort of cable you got. Its worth taking it in and seeing what you get, cos its going to be better than just binning it, anythings better than nothing.0

Its only the other metal impurities that are an issue. If its dull, but pure copper, its still classed as 'bright copper' as its free from contaminants.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
