car boot full of cable , How much worth ?

Hi, folks just wondering if you would have any idea what a large pile ,approx large car boot full would cash in at a scrappy for . Pulled all this out of my renovation project. couldnt believe how much there was sitting in the ceilings although it did used to be a shop. any wild guesses, it is unstripped by the way , dont think i will have time to strip it, cheers

stripping the cable will only make it worth a tiny bit more, most dealers have a machine, £1500 a tonne a few days ago i was taking some lead in and a electrician came in with about the same as you,he got £106. Ring round for a price ,they varied 25% on lead when i rang about

    I got £1.30 /kilo on Thursday.

In terms of your copper, you don't need to seperate the painted stuff, but you would be better seperating the pure copper out (known as 'bright copper') from what is known as 'braisery'. Braisery is the copper with impurities on it such as solder, brass fittings etc. Bright copper is worth about 40% more than braisery, so its worth the effort.

Hubby got a tenner for a bin bag full of coax cable not so long ago. Depends on what sort of cable you got. Its worth taking it in and seeing what you get, cos its going to be better than just binning it, anythings better than nothing.
  • What car is it?
  • its a golf, i will have to put the seats down.

Its only the other metal impurities that are an issue. If its dull, but pure copper, its still classed as 'bright copper' as its free from contaminants.
