Was told over the phone if I was to die my parents would have to pay my loan

When taking out a loan with Halifax a few years back when living at home I was offered ppi which I said no to & was then told "was I aware that if I was to die my parents would have to pay back the loan".

This led me to take out the ppi only to recently find out this is incorrect & they can only pay back the loan through my assets.

Do i have grounds for a complaint? Obviously it was mis sold but how can I prove I was told this as i'm not sure if calls are recorded that old(2006).

That's a vile way to sell something.

I would definitely put a complaint in, even if you get nothing it will raise the selling tactics of the person involved. If they're still employed there (hopefully not) having a complaint against them should flag up a training issue, if nothing else.
