Advice needed - Lloyds TSB - PPI - asking for more information on what loans were for

Hi,
My husband is self employed and was sold a total of 4 loans and 1 credit card all with PPI on. He was self employed so he couldn't of claimed and it was mis-sold and he was bullied into having the insurance when applying.
He didn't have any documentation but phoned Lloyds TSB's PPI helpline number and they were very helpful. They searched for different loan agreement numbers and the credit card number and put the claim in motion. This was 5 weeks ago. Today he's had a phone call asking him what the loans were for, as previously said he has no documentation but can't remember what the loans were for. Lloyds have now said they cannot process his claim any further until he finds out what the loans were for.
I think this is just blatant put off tactics, does anyone have any advice? It makes me really annoyed that Lloyds can do this when he's self employed - never mind the bully boy attitude.
The only thing I can think of is going back to Lloyds and saying he can't remember, doesnt have any documentation and insisting that they continue to look at the claim
Help anyone??

The only reason I can think of why they are asking what the loans were for is.
They may have excluded loans to the self employed for certain things ie if you were applying for a loan to purchase a car but in fact used it to prop up the business. As your complaint is based on the fact that your husband was self employed they MAY be trying to catch him out and come up with a get out clause. This may sound very cynical but otherwise what does it matter what the loans were for!!!!!! They have as you say, searched for account numbers and got the complaints in motion, why now ask what they were for?
Of course I could be reading too much into this and it could just be a stalling tactic :undecidedSuccesses
