Sports Direct International (SPD) Anyone got any views on this stock?
Ive got some shares in SPD, and am undecided if I should sell or hold.
Usually when there are too many shares floating about the price reflects this, but Mike Ashley is holding 70%ish of the stock himself. I think he is holding out for the £3 mark which they floated at before he reduces his stake.
I am unsure if he unloads some of his holdings, if this will push the price higher (making the stock more liquid) or lower (too many shares).
Also we have the Olympics and euros round the corner.
Kind of undecided on what to do with this one!

Bump!
I know everyones circumstances are different, so don't know how to word this one, but...........
SPD has been kind to me and I wanted to know if it would it be wise to sell a stock just to use up that years CGT allowance?
Just wanted to get others opinions/advice, what they would do. 2 heads better than 1 and all that.Never let the perfume of the premium overpower the odour of the risk0 -
I've never owned this stock, but I did order the new England top off their website last night!
Looking at the graphs it has had an excellent two month spell putting on about 45% in that time. The P/E is now looking slightly high at around 17.5, but I wouldn't necessarily look to sell unless you need the cash. I much prefer this sports chain over the likes of JJB and JD Sports as in austere times such as this I think people are hungry for value. The deals in store are often seemingly too good to be true.
As you have mentioned - keep in mind that 2012 will see Euro 2012 and the Olympic games in London, so in terms of sales, this budget Sports chain could have a very strong 2012.
If you're in two minds, perhaps sell some of the holding and hang on to the rest for potential future price growth.
And as always, take this with a pinch of salt and act on your own research/gut feeling!0 -
I have left it a little late this year to use up 2011/12 CGT allowance, I am trying to choose which stock to sell to make use of this years allowance.
I am swaying towards reducing my holding in SPD to lock in the gain plus use up the remainder of this years CGT allowance. Its a case of use it or lose it.
I read this article over on Monevator.com: Act now to defuse capital gains on shares
(I noticed comment #7 on there by Gadgetmind!)Never let the perfume of the premium overpower the odour of the risk0
