What car?
Hi we recently got rid of our big gas guzzler and are at the moment just using my 3 door Clio, it is a fab car, p reg cost £400 only £50 MOT £17 mth insurance and £1ooand odd tax.
However, there are 5 of us and the little 2 door is a mare so we are looking to get rid of the little one and want a five door but with pretty much the same insurance tax and petrol costs.
We happily buy old bangers and don't want to spend more than £500 x thank you x

40 reads but no replies so here goes
get a p reg 5 door clio model0 -
I am a bangernomics sort of bloke myself
I recommend a Rover 400 series Diesel
The 420 SDI is a good model to go for and you'll get one for less than a monkey - mine cost me £350.
I have treated it like rubbish for 3 years and it wags its tail and comes back for more.
It took me three years to do an oil change and that's on an average 18000 miles a year.
The car is fairly tidy looking, handles alright, and there is room for you and kids easy.
plus its one of the kind of cars that blends in and doesn't get noticed so you don't get a bricked window that often
Just don't mistakenly buy the petrol version - they use an infamous Rover engine called the K-series (probably one of the reasons Rover are no longer with us) bloody awful it was - blew head gaskets like no ones business and why you can pick up the little MG two seaters so cheap.
You'll be looking at around 500 miles on a full tank which will be around £70
mind you that is mine which has been abused so you may drop luckier still.
My previous motor was an old 1993 Citroen Xantia that was given to me half way to the knackers yard, the rear suspension was on its way but lasted two MOT's before I got cold feet from sticking her in for a third.
Again cheap as chips to run and loads of room on the nice settees that Citroen plonk in there for you to drive around on.
Also with its hydro suspension lark its like driving on an air bag - lovely.
that one was a 1993 1.9 Citroen Xantia Diesel (LX Model)
My friends nicknamed it the magic carpet as it was so smooth.
Good luck choosing your next motor.0 -
