I was terminated from my position as a self employed technical salesman. My solicitor took up the matter a there was a case of breach of contract. It has been concluded and I am to be rewarded £20,000. I have been on sickness benefit since the termination and my doctor has already said it will be a long time before I can work again.
Would anyone kindly tell me of any tax issue I would get with this award?

The OP would not be on SSP if they were self employed.
OP, are you claiming income based ESA? If so, your award may affect your entitlement, and an element of it may be reclaimed to cover the monies you have received from the DWP. You need to ask your solicitor how the award is broken down, in particular if there is a component for loss of earnings.0 -
The OP said 'sickness benefit' that's what I was referring to.
Same question then, replace SSP with sickness benefit.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
