Carpeting over Ceramic Tiles

Hello all, could anyone advise on carpeting over ceramic tiles, i have a conservatory which has ceramic tiles laid, but carpet would certainly be a bit warmer under my feet. Is it possible to carpet over these (with underlay) without drilling into the tiles to fit grippers, i'd prefer not to damage the tiles if poss in case we ever did want to go back to tiles or was sold etc... thanks in advance

Simple answer is YES, a decent underlay for better insulation and the grippers can be glued into place. This will not be a problem for local carpet fitters.0

Or you could just buy a large rug that covers most of the floor. Or even get the edges of a carpet bound so it can be laid like a rug

As mentioned earlier, this is possible. However, grippers do not need drilling but, the adhesive (i.e gripfill, no nails) a fitter uses would stain the ceramics if they were to be removed and chopping said grippers up is likely to damage\scratch ceramics, also grippers would have to be fitted the day before carpet were layed, as these would slip if fitter tryed to carpet straight onto them, two visits usually means more cost.. The buying a big rug that covers most floor area is a good tactic, if expence is a problem, as also mentioned, buy cheaper carpet and have it bound around the edges, also known as "whipping". Bear in mind though that cheap/thin carpet aint going to provide much warmth.0
