Cashbuyers - other high street pawn brokers

I've got a laptop that i'd rather not put on ebay (noticed someone got £495 for a similar one). I was wondering what im likely to get from one of the high street sellers /buyers (chain type) ? I've got all the boxes receipts bought it for £1620
and upgraded its memory. I'm wondering if its worth going down that route as i prefer not to sell it to a friend offering me £250 as its the whole what happens if it goes wrong 6 months down the line and he kicks up a fuss.

Incase it helps its a 13.3" Sony Vaio S2XP (1GB RAM, 80GB HD, 1.83GHz Centrino etC), my work has finally boiught me a laptop so im considering selling this one.
Money, Money, Money ..... Banks/Casinos/Bookies give me all you money its a poor mans world....

  • Shops generally offer peanuts. Your friend may feel offended if you sold it to a shop for less than their offer and they realised you'd done so.
Is there a particular reason you'd rather avoid eBay?
  • on the ebay thing, had someone hack my paypal account a while back so rather skeptical now about everything related to it. hmmm maybe i'll steer clear of em then (cash converters or whatever the name of the one is down town)
