Price per Unit comparisons

Take them to the deli counter.
I think you can only compare something like that by overall diameter, as it would be tricky to get 6 tortillas to serve 7 people.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
This is online that I am having the problem. I have sent them an email askingSave the earth, it's the only planet with chocolate!0

Sorry, TKP, I thought you had been there in RL.
You could maybe phone up your local Sainsburys and ask them to weigh a pack, or even measure the diameter.
Go on, dare you. :rotfl:Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
I got my reply from Sainsbury's customer services...
"Thank you for your email about the Sainsbury's Tortilla, Be Good to Yourself 6 in a pack.
I am sorry but after contacting the Haines store about this item, they confirmed that they were unable to look this up because the weight is not specified on the website and they are out of stock of this item.
If you have any further queries with this. Please call our Customer Relations team on ..."

Hi everyone,
As this is more of a shopping thread than an Old Style one I've moved it over to the Shop but don't Drop board to see if you can get some more input there.

Thanks for the move, Pink.
As an oldie (ie MUCH older than 30) I see more oldies than youngies doing the comparisons (or is it that the oldies take longer to get the brain cells moving?).
Or is it that fewer younger shoppers know or care about the real costs of items?
Be interested to get some feedback on that!0 -
TKP wrote:What got me today was looking at Tortilla wraps at Sainsbury's online. The Sainsbury's ones do not have a price per anything - just the unit price, and nowhere does it state how much the pack weighs - so I can't work it our for myself either! Very irritating.
I don't think cakes and pastry type products have to display the weight on the packaging- don't know why though.more dollar$ than sense0 -

I think most younger shoppers do not know/care about real cost of items. My student son actually buys what is on offer each week to help keep his overall food bill down, but I think he is in the minority. He will buy enough of things on offer if they will keep without deteriorating. He has been known to have a stock of some food items that will keep him going for months. He will also shop around at the different supermarkets to see what is on offer at each and yes he does compare prices per kg/litre. I think something must have rubbed off on him over the years being dragged round shops with mum!
I love it when he says to me "do you know X supermarket has got Y on offer this week?"0
