I think if they go about it in the right way then its very do able! Also I think it depends on how their partners work pattern is as to whether people will go for it. Some get their other half home every night so buying or renting some distance from camp would just be a total pain. Others will welcome it as they get !!!!!! all time with their partners as it is so why live in a house you didnt choose in a location you didnt choose and cant get the job you want due to childcare or lack of vacancies etc.

On the other hand the army and government already do a fair amount to help forces personnel get on the property ladder so those who have thought about buying and chosen not too will have valid reasons so forcing them into it is bound to pee alot of people off!

In developing the accommodation strand of the NEM, MOD will need to address significant challenges. Greater stability for families may allow more of them to own their own home, but owner-occupation is unlikely to be a realistic aspiration for many others. There may also be an increase in demand for SLA as greater home-ownership may result in an increasing proportion of married personnel serving unaccompanied, with families remaining in their home location. In our view MOD will need to continue to make significant provision for good quality subsidised housing for a mobile workforce.
