Spanish Bank Charges

Martin has been successful with UK bank charges.
Now with approaching 1 million Brits owning Villas/Apartments in Spain has anyone come up with a bank without current account charges?

Could you re-word your question?Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0

Do you know of any Spanish based banks that do not charge current account holders?0
-
The charges you refer to are not the same thing as those being challenged over here. On the continent paying for your regular current account services is the norm and i do not know of any spanish banks that dont.0
-
But I wish you luck in challenging the Spanish authorities in stating that they are either 'illegal' or 'unlawful' :beer:0

LOL - if the EU ever decide that charging for a service is illegal, we're all stuffed...0

Hi ! I have just noticed that my Spanish Bank - BBVA have allowed several hundred euros to be withdrawn from my account without my permission or informing me. I have only discovered it on checking my statement. The only information is that it is for Excess Plusvalia. Has anyone else had this happen please.
Thanx0 -
Usted se debe telefonear por teléfono a BBVA y les pregunta lo qué ha pasado con su cuento... yo no se lo que es, pero el consejero podría investigarlo en su favor.
¿Quizás usted se puede informarse sobre el banco en linea?0 -

Yeah, contact your bank and ask them about it. Maybe look into online banking, so you spot things almost immediately instead of waiting for your statement to arrive!0 -
We've just got back from Spain after completing the purchase of our apartment, and we came across Excess Plusvalia during the transaction, and as far as I can recall it was paid by the seller, not us. I know it's not much to go on, but have you recently sold in Spain?
On a similar note to the original posting, we used XEtrade to transfer the money to buy our place in Spain (good rate and no charges), only to find that BBVA charged us a percentage amounting to almost 500 Euros for all the effort it took them to accept our money (which was also in Euros). We complained strongly at the branch, and despite their staff speaking good English, we were told that there was nothing they could do and we would have to ring Bilbao. We were also told to speak slowly to them or we might be told that no-one spoke English! Has anyone else been mugged like this and managed to get a refund?
