Look out on Groupon etc for Spa deals in your area. We are going to Birmingham & having a spa for those who want to pay for treatments others can just sit & relax round the pool. In the evening we are going out for a meal. Nothing mad, well I hope thats the plan as my BM is arranging it, but thats the plan I set her.

Fawny, I went on a hen in Birmingham, we hired a barge which was lovely, they did a mr and mrs style quiz and we all guessed the answers with the bride. We also did a 'best memory of bride'. We then went to the jam house for food and dancing. It was a lot of fun.

  • What about organising your own tea party, where you all make the cakes first then enjoy your spoils?
Everyone can bring certain ingredients, you could even have a competition for best & worst decorated cup cakes.
  • I am not having a "typical hen" either (if there is such a thing!) it is being held at my parents house (they are going away for the weekend) and we r hiring a hot tub for the garden, and having a BBQ etc in the evenings. During day we r doin various activities like high ropes etc. there will be alcohol, but that's optional!

  • I'm struggling with hen night too, and think i may also do the all pile round for a night on the wii, bring a bottle, and order in a pile of pizzas.

Maybe do a go-ape thing during the afternoon with those who want to, as there is one not too far away.

I like the cup cake idea, and a friend of mine runs classes - could be good

  • Depending on where you are, how would you feel about something like going to the races? My sister did that for her hen do and it was great fun - we booked a table in the restaurant where you could watch the races on TV screens or go down to the paddock and had lunch and afternoon tea in there.

My OH's sister had a life drawing class for her hen do which was really fun and interesting - I know you wanted something all inclusive but she had her mum, her MIL and her 80 year old nan there and they all really enjoyed it!

What about something crafty? As others have suggested pottery painting is good if you have a place near you, or maybe something like Drink Shop Do: http://drinkshopdo.com/Drink,_Shop_%26_Do/Drink,_Shop_%26_Do_%E2%80%94_Hen_Do.html where you can do loads of things like make hair accessories, decorate cupcakes, make jewellery etc.

Or perhaps something like a 'sleepover' type setup or a pampering afternoon where you do each other's nails, face/hair masks, manicures/pedicures, temporary hair dye etc? You could hire people in to do it or DIY and make stuff yourself.

I like the theatre idea as well - some of the more 'henny' shows like Ghost will probably have special packages but even if they don't you might get group discount depending how many of you there are.

my sister doesnt drink much either so we are going to windsor for a weekend.... afternoon tea at browns and then a boat trip. I am going to do a wedding quiz for when we are on the boat (about famous couples and tv wedding etc....) i dont think a hen has to involve getting stupidly drunk!

Look at this - I spotted they do hen parties - I don't know where you are based, but a trip to the Lakes is always a fab thing to do (I can suggest places to stay) or see if there is something similar in your area?

I'm a mobile beauty therapist in Liverpool and often go to ladies homes or hotels to do a pamper party for them. They're great fun, ladies normally have a few drinks (but not too inebriated), we provide a chocolate fountain and dips which go down really well. It works well for hen parties where people don't know each other that well and also if coming from another city as normally they'll book into a hotel or serviced apartment, have their pamper party on the evening or day of arrival so that they get to know each other or as an ice-breaker and then generally they go out in the evening for a meal or just hit the town.

I've also done parties where the ladies have all clubbed together to get either a naked butler or a barman/cocktail maker who will teach them how to make the perfect cocktail.
