COOP doesnt accept my tesco credit card

Within the past month, in 2 differnt COOPs my tesco creditcard was not accepted at the till, but my tesco credit card works everywhere else.
Anyone an idea why?

Maybe telco systems were down or is the car damaged in some way.
I had problems with my work visa and had an instructing fact thrown up over the size of the chip.
Admittedly its not a tesco visa, but they should still let you sign if its not working0
