Some Clinique products are very nice but their toners will remove nail varnish, just think what it does to the face :eek:
If you want to go really simple, effective, gentle and cheap, plain old rose water, bought from any chemist will do the job"If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" - quote from Bambi's mum0 -
Just witch hazel as a toner is perfect and cheap as chips if you feel you need one. I don't tend to use one now though as I just use Bioderma Micellaire water with a cotton pad to remove all makeup and it's really gentle and leaves no residue at all.11th Heaven prizes Number 103

i was a clinique consultant. i take it you are referring to the clarifying lotion. its an exfoliator to remove the dead skin cells and not a toner.
it does contain a small amount of alcohol which can make your skin tingle. there is an alcohol free lotion if you are allergic to the alcohol.0 -

I hate the clinque ones too - we can't all be wrong.
I buy the Liz Earle one, but my DD swears by the Lush tree tea oil one & I would get that one if I didn't get LE.0
