Clinique 'toner' stuff

  • Some Clinique products are very nice but their toners will remove nail varnish, just think what it does to the face :eek:

If you want to go really simple, effective, gentle and cheap, plain old rose water, bought from any chemist will do the job :)

  • Just witch hazel as a toner is perfect and cheap as chips if you feel you need one. I don't tend to use one now though as I just use Bioderma Micellaire water with a cotton pad to remove all makeup and it's really gentle and leaves no residue at all.

  • i was a clinique consultant. i take it you are referring to the clarifying lotion. its an exfoliator to remove the dead skin cells and not a toner.

it does contain a small amount of alcohol which can make your skin tingle. there is an alcohol free lotion if you are allergic to the alcohol.

having once been half asleep and cofused toner and nail varnish, i can very well remember how 'tingly' my skin felt after using it!!! (although my skin felt very clean afterwards, with no side effects from one stupid error!). from that experience, i don't think clinique toner is as bad as nail varnish but i guess few people are a stupid as me to be able to make a direct comparison! (not that i'd recommend clinique toner either though - it is a bit harsh plus i've now cut out toner altogether and my skin is, if anything, better!)

I love the Lush toners, there's 3 of them and they're quite cheap. I love the one called 'Breath of Fresh Air' its got sea water in it and is lovely to use as a spritz too.

I hate the clinque ones too - we can't all be wrong.

I buy the Liz Earle one, but my DD swears by the Lush tree tea oil one & I would get that one if I didn't get LE.
