PPI claims on old mortgage

Hi
I received a form through the post at my parents address from FSCS regarding an old Welcome loan. I filled in forms and shortly after £757.66 landed in my bank. Easy I thought, I'd better look into all my old history. Scary!!
Divorced for six years. Mortgage with Nationwide, paid PPI to cover my wage so a claim has gone in there. After that we had a mortgage with Natwest, plus a loan with the Natwest. All of these had PPI on them, so letters have been sent out. Nationwide sent me a letter with the ex wifes name on it. Can I claim on my own? Natwest had now received my identity so should be hearing from them soon, but again we ahd this as a couple but PPI just covered me.
Can I claim for these solely at all?

  • Before thinking about that, why do you think they were missold?
  • Hi
I was in full time emplyment, and was covered for sickness and accident. Is that not a good enough reason?

Being in full time employment is not a valid reason for complaint (indeed it is usually a requirement to confirm eligibility)
How long was the sick pay for?

And how much? It could have simply been Statutory Sick Pay, which is quite meagre.
  • Thinking back I would have received full pay for six months, then three quarters pay for the next six months.

Are you sure? That is extremely rare. Indeed, I have never heard of sick pay of that level in 20 years of giving advice.

Did you tell the mortgage adviser that when you took it out?

  • Its 13 weeks at full pay, then the next 13 weeks at 3/4 pay. If still not fit for work, its then the next 26 weeks at 1/2 pay. Had to check with work this morning, so sorry for delay. I've sent form back to Nationwide with just that reason on the form, so that may well get rejected?
