Lack of refund policy

I don't have a problem with a company who don't offer refunds, and only exchanges. But it would be nice to be informed before buying something from there. I was told by gamestop that it says on the receipt... But this is still telling me after the fact. Maybe next time being a liar is the right policy these days, because if I would have lied I'd have my money back right now instead of a useless gift card. :money:
I don't think I needed the sarcastic have a nice day comment on my way out either.

Well your consumer rights tell you what you are and aren't entitled to. It's best not to assume that retailers will give you other rights, because they don't have to.
If you thought you might want to change your mind about your purchase, surely it would have made sense to ask before you buy?0 -
If you had a legal right to a refund, no policy/wording can take that away.
If you assumed a retailer had an extra refund policy, then surely that is your error?

How many times do you sit there and dwell on what might happen in the future? Most people don't. All I was saying it would have been nice to inform someone that you'd only get a gift card.0 -

I never assumed anyone had an extra anything. If someone only does exchanges, they should have it somewhere which is visible to people. Like Select, if I buy a top, at the register I am told there is only exchanges. Fine whatever, fair enough.0 -

Imagine how much longer queues would be if shop assistants explained all sale terms and conditions and store policies to every customer.
Or are change of mind returns a special case?0 -
So you assumed (due to lack of signage) they offer refunds if you change you mind and now passing the buck on to them?0

How long would it take to serve everybody if they had to go through some ridiculous mantra to every customer, describing your rights and options should you at some point decide to you want a refund or exchange? You know the old saying about what happens when you assume ?
Surely a shop is also then entitled to assume that if you're buying something, you actually want it and intend to keep it, and not have to offer you every and all options you demand, over and above what they're legally obliged to do?
Some people want their botties wiped for them, and for someone else to supply the paper on a returnable basis too..........grow up - life's too short.0 -

But you did, because you started a thread about it. Even exchanges are not a legal right when you make a purchase!
Your LEGAL rights under SoGA are that a retailer can replace or refund the purchase price goods which are faulty or not fit for purpose.
The store you're moaning about sold you something you didn't like. They are very kindly allowing you to select something else and have given you a gift card so you can make your selection in your own time.
IF I am buying anything I feel I might need to exchange, eg a gift for someone else I ask at the till. It takes hardly any time. In fact, the other week I was pleasantly surprised to discover I could exchange books bought for a gift if the intended recipient had already read them! The bead I just bought for my sister's birthday gift came with a gift receipt, for her, so that if she already had that bead, or didn't like the one we had chosen she could choose another.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson
