Tesco Instore Opticians returns policy

Straight off the bat I should mention that Tesco’s have not done anything wrong (yet). But I am now stressing over something that was said while I was in store and am really beginning to dwell on the matter.
I have a particularly odd prescription due to a congenital deformity. A number of my disabilities relate to this issue too. Week before last I went in store for an eye exam as theirs was free and post redundancy we are counting pennies. My prescription had altered and new glasses were due. We shopped about in town but the only frame that suited really was back at Tesco.
We went back to Tesco but was not sure of the viability of my lenses in the frame. The agents in store seemed to be a bit vague and just checked on the PC if the lens would fit. I then asked for the details of the aesthetics and how it would look. Frankly they were unable to advise and said wait until the frames came back and we would see then.
I was then handed over to another more brisk lady for payment who advised me in no uncertain terms of only a hour returns time – you could not leave the store in that hour and they would not accept a return for reasons other than the lenses were faulty (for example misprescribed). She then rushed on to say even if they were faulty they would only allow the return after a retest and confirmation by their optician that the lenses were faulty. She asked me repeatedly if I understood this....
At the time I was pretty confident it was all going to be fine but as time marches on I am beginning to dwell on the what ifs. (Mainly as the OH has just had to return a frame to Specsavers because they just would not sit right despite being altered on a number of occasions – they exchanged for another set with no quibble at all - they couldn’t have been more helpful.)
Now I am aware that for most returns it a issue of ‘fit for purpose’ but would aesthetics be included in that? These glasses were cheap for what I normally pay but by no means inexpensive and I just don’t want to have to put up with something unacceptable because of a very strict returns policy even if they did make me aware of it.
(P.s the issue will relate to the sides of the lenses being visable and if they would look like milk bottle bottom on one side and unbalanced with the diffrent prescription on the other eye - even with the super slim lenses being fitted)

Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...

The policy that you mentioned is 1 hour but thats a cancellations policy NOT the Returns Policy. It is for you if you change your mind about anything with your order ie:-Frame, coatings etc.
All this can be done easily within the hour without any delay with your glasses.
The returns policy is different.
If your not happy with the aesthetics when they arrive Tesco will do their best to put it right.
I hope this helps.0 -
I have requested from head office the returns policy - Forearmed is forewarned
