Another perspective for you, my speculative oil shares have gone from 2k to 14k to 6k in 12 months!

Now that's a plummet, and a rocket and a balance out and a....
    Stoploss ??????

Also can I ask what on earth have you traded in to make 700% in 12 months??

to the OP you learnt a valuable lesson here for an incrediblly cheap price. -1.5% isn't much at all.

You now have the choice to either go back into the market with the knowledge you have gained or avoid it and stick to the safety of savings accounts etc

Indeed, horses for courses. I often sell but I aint got cash to spare, some do and little time to deliberate when to trade
XEL hit the 3-4p range!! So anyone who timed it right could have made 100 x their money between 2008 and 2011. I told you it had an exciting history!

Stop loss on an AIM share is suicidal! MM take them to the cleaners on a regular basis so I just absorb any losses and day trade when I can

My gains have come from significant holdings in

    RMP
    RRL
    MAGP

Just curious -- If 7x isn't a good enough reward, when will you sell these "speculative" shares?

I can understand how a x 7 increase would seem like a good out, however the logistics and potential behind these are treble that. They have a license to drill in Somalie (puntland) georgia and have an active well in texas.

IF, which is a big IF, they strike in Somalia then the 10 - 20p valuation they are currently operating at will be blown out of the water.

Before people think I am a mug, I have a degree in Civil Engineering and have reviwed the seismic data and RNS readings and the possibility of a SIGNIFICANT hydrocarbon presence is high due the type of rock bed it is sat on. Potetnially a HUGE bed of oil, however potentially a duster!

    IMHO DYOR ;)

The best AIM stocks are like fairytales, just never know if you will get the pot of gold or eaten by the wolf
RRL does some normal production, its actually safer then most but could half anyway

Sabretooth - its a pretty map but the coast of Tanzania is over a 1000miles to the south. That's most of the way from London to Libya. So perhaps one needs to investigate a bit more before investing ones hard-earned.

There's a lot of typing going on so i don't know if you have answered this question as i've only skim read very fast.

Why are you investing? What is your goal? You reason for investing?

If you're so worried over the loss (not to say that you should OR shouldn't be) then maybe you should take a different path to reach your goals.
