Help..Confused about Credit Card PPI Refund

Hi
I was wondering if some one could help make this clear to me, i know i may be sounding a little stupid ..lol
I have received a PPI refund from my HALIFAX Credit card, £1,418, they sent the refund by cheque form in January 2012.
Now i do have a 0% balance transfer amount already on my Halifax card.
I have just received my February 2012 credit card statement, and noticed a £15 interest fee showing, i have just telephoned them and they say this interest relates to the £1,418 PPI refund i have had back ,, i then noticed on my statement that the £1,418 had been added to my balance as a transaction..
I'm a little confused, Halifax man said because i had cashed the chq, this amount is owed / due to Halifax ??
I thought i have been paying this mis sold PPI for years, they have paid this back .. and the £1,418 refund is money they owe me to do waht i want with ?...
I do not understanding why then i owe this back to halifax ??
I might as well not have bothered claimed it back if i am now owing it back still ??
I'm really confused ??
Any help really appreciated ..
Thanks
