  • Acrobat Reader won't let you fill in and save forms. You can fill it in and print it but you need the full Acrobat to save it.

You could try CutePDF if you want to be able to save it. Googling for a PDF -> Word converter throws this up.

There is a midway Acrobat programme called Approval which lets you save pdf forms. However, you do have to pay for it but it is cheaper than the full programme.

You should be able to do this with Acrobat Reader, as long as it has been formatted as a fillable form (should have "Fillable Form" on a red background at the top of the page if so).

You can do this with full Acrobat. However, believe me, it is not as easy as with Word. It will take more time than manual filling in. I hate handwriting too, but I use Acrobat only when I really need nice result.

There is a slightly long winded way of doing it if you really want to print rather than handwrite it. You can scan the form in (if you have a scanner!) and then set the scanned document as the background in Word. Once it is in there you place text boxes over all the form boxes and fill them in with your responses.

It's much neater but takes a helluva lot longer than simply printing and writing!

I am not sure about Acrobat Reader and cannot check unfortunatelly, but full Acrobat allows you saving file in different graphic formats (‘save as’ …)

moomintroll hinted at this earlier ....

Whether or not you can fill in a PDF form, depends on whether the author has enabled this option. If the author did not enable the fill-in-form option, then there is no easy way to fill it in on the screen - you have to print out the PDF and then fill it in like any other paper form.

The number of PDF authors who issue forms, but DON'T enable the online form filling never fails to amaze me! It kind of negates the use of the PDF in the first place - they might as well continue to issue paper forms via snail mail!

If you are guilty of this, can you take note please! ;)

I agree with you debt free chick, the problem was that the spaces to fill in were so small it was nearly impossible to give all the information longhand.Never mind, job is done, once again thank you all
