What is a reasonable time for delivery?

On Saturday 10th Feb I purchased an inexpensive item from a small volume, 100% positive feedback seller. Paid by Paypal. Delivery supposed to be 1st class mail from Surrey. Emailed seller yesterday re non delivery - no response.
How long should I wait before starting an "item not recieved" with Paypal? Should I tell seller before I start the action?
Thank you all.

i think sellers are supposed to send items within 7 days then i personally would not want to wait anymore than another 7 days for delivery especially if it was supposed to be by 1st class.
i would give it a few more days, then email them again and send the message through ebay too, if i had not had a response from the seller before the end of the week then i would consider starting a paypal dispute.0 -
Well, it is the 20th today and with no response from the seller, I would be a bit worried by now. Is the seller still selling items at the moment?0

No further items on at present. With two weekends in the time period the delay alone is not too worrying. The lack of response is. Further email sent today.
Looking at feedbacks, it seems long delivery times are a standard for this seller (or most buyers are lax in feedback).
I'll give them until the post arrives tomorrow to reply or send then I think I will start the dispute procedure.
Thank you both for your replies.0 -
i dont think you can say feedback times are related to delivery times.
ive got feedback many times after a long period. weeks and even months later.
although i once got good feedback, an hour after selling summat!
that was funny.Get some gorm.0 -
You can't start a chargeback until 10 days after the end of the auction. Ebay guidelines say that up to 7 days is an acceptable time to wait for the seller to post the item and 14 days is an acceptable time for the post office to deliver the item. So you are talking about 3 weeks from the day of purchase before you can lodge any kind of complaint.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Ormus - I agree with what you say, but if they are consistently showing a delay, it does not look good.
Blacki-saturn - thank you for the information. On the chargeback I would point out that it is now 10 days.0
