Is there any way of replacing the tabbed ribbon toolbar on Office 2007 with a "Classic" menu - for free ?
I hate the tabs with a vengeance and up until now - have avoided the program - using OPENOFFICE - but now have to use it ....

Microsoft don't cater for this but there are 3rd party methods. You could try here http://labnol.blogspot.com/2007/04/replace-office-2007-ribbon-interface.html0

In work, I've been using Word and Excel since Windows 95. The ribbon takes a bit of getting used to, but it's an order of magnitude better than the old interface once you do.
That said, Office 2007 is a buggy piece of junk; 2010 is the program which should have been released in the first place. 2010 is to 2007 as Win7 is to Vista.I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.0 -

Run it and install it - if it does not run, then run it as Administrator by right clicking on it and selecting 'Run as administrator'
Once installed, opened word, excel etc and should have an option on the ribbon 'Menu' which takes you to the classic menu.0 -
You're only delaying the inevitable
